The James Michel Blue Economy Research Institute (BERI) has announced that The Commonwealth of Learning (COL), in collaboration with the University of Seychelles is offering an online course to introduce the Blue Economy.

The course, led by BERI focuses on innovative and sustainable ways for nations and communities to utilise coastal and oceanic resources and the services they provide. It is the first of its kind in the world.

This online course will form a foundation for further learning initiatives in this area. It includes the following six units:

Unit 1: The Blue Economy: an Emerging Concept
Unit 2: Ecosystem Services
Unit 3: Fisheries and Aquaculture
Unit 4: Emerging High Technology Sectors
Unit 5: Tourism
Unit 6: Maritime Transportation and Services

Deadline for registration is 2 July 2017.
